Cards Against Humanity: Second Expansion

A small, dated add on pack that current 300 card expansion boxes now beat on value.

The short version

Buy it if
  • Owners of the base game who want the original early expansion cards
  • Collectors completing the numbered expansion run
Skip it if
  • You want the most new cards per box, since current boxes hold 300
  • You own the Red Box, which already contains these cards
  • Your group dislikes edgy or offensive humor

What owners like

  • Keeps a well worn base deck feeling fresh
  • Blank cards let groups add their own inside jokes
  • Mixes in cleanly with base game cards

Common complaints

  • Small card count for a standalone purchase
  • Out of print, so sellers ask collector prices
  • Some early era jokes on race, gender and abuse have aged badly
  • Pop culture references from 2012 feel dated

Based on Woot and AbeBooks product listings, the Wikipedia article on the game, EditionCards' Red Box card list, a Fantastic Games Red Box write up, and the Cards Against Humanity expansions shop..

What it does

A 112 card add on pack for Cards Against Humanity from 2012, now out of print, with its cards later folded into the Red Box.

  • 100 new cards printed on the same playing card stock as the base game
  • 12 blank cards for writing in house jokes
  • The First Expansion is not needed to use it
  • Same cards were later reissued inside the 300 card Red Box

Worth it only for groups who already own the base game and want more of the original era cards, or for collectors filling out a set. The cards are now out of print and some jokes have aged badly, and the current boxed expansions offer three times as many cards per box.
