DJI Phantom 3 Prop Guards (CP.PT.000188, 4 pack)
Useful training guards for Phantom 3 pilots, with a fiddly install and some wind drag.
The short version
- Phantom 3 Professional or Advanced owners who are still learning to fly
- Pilots filming close to buildings, trees or people at low altitude
- You mostly fly high, open shots in windy conditions
- You do not want to swap motor screws each time you add or remove the guards
What owners like
- Saves props and arms in light bumps against walls and structures
- Gives new pilots confidence when flying low or indoors
- Some pilots find the drone feels a little more stable with them fitted
- Genuine DJI guards are recommended over generic ones for fit
Common complaints
- Installing means swapping screws, and parts may need molding tags trimmed first
- Act like a sail in wind, so the drone can drift on ascent
- Extra weight trims flight time and hurts performance
- Will not save the drone from a real crash into a tree
- Longer screws make it a hassle to remove the guards for compact transport
Based on DJI's Phantom 3 Prop Guards installation guide, Drone Nerds, Newegg and 6Ave product listings, the Amazon listing title, and two PhantomPilots forum threads..

What it does
DJI's own set of four screw on propeller guards for the Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced drones.
- One guard per propeller, sized for the Phantom 3's 9 inch props
- Mounts with two guard screws under each motor in place of the stock ones
- Included thread runs through and under the guards for extra protection
- Made by DJI for the Phantom 3, so no fit guesswork
A sensible add on for newer Phantom 3 pilots flying low or near people and objects, since the guards can turn a light bump into a bounce instead of a broken prop. The trade-offs are a fiddly screw swap to fit them, added weight and wind drag, and limited stock now that the Phantom 3 is an old drone.

Questions
Do DJI Phantom 3 prop guards fit the Phantom 3 Standard?
The DJI listing for CP.PT.000188 names the Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced. Check DJI's compatibility for other Phantom 3 models before buying.
How do you install Phantom 3 prop guards?
Remove the two outer screws under each motor with the included hex key, mount each guard with the included guard screws, then run the thread through and under the guards. DJI says not to use threadlocker.
Can you use the prop guard screws without the guards?
No. DJI says to use the guard screws only with guards fitted, and to put the original screws back when the guards come off, to avoid loose joints or motor damage.
Do prop guards affect flight?
Forum pilots report shorter flight time from the added weight and some drift in wind.
