It is the best documented back seat dog hammock from a known brand, with a maker page and editorial coverage, though it lacks the original's mesh window.
The short version
- Dog owners with a back bench seat in a car, SUV or truck
- Households that sometimes need to seat a passenger next to the dog
- Your back row has bucket seats or an open gap with no bench
- You want a cover you can put in the washing machine
- You want a mesh window so the dog can see the driver
What owners like
- Quick to fit using the car's headrests, with no tools
- Center zipper is handy when a passenger shares the back seat
- Keeps hair and mud off the seat
Common complaints
- The shell is thinner than heavy quilted covers
- Earlier versions were water resistant rather than fully waterproof, so a soaking spill can work through
- No door protection or mesh window
Based on Kurgo's product page, a pet retailer listing, the Amazon listing title and an editorial comparison of dog car hammocks that tested the earlier Wander version..

What it does
A hammock style back seat cover for dogs that clips to the headrests and blocks the gap to the front seats; reviewed here in place of the unbranded waterproof hammock with mesh windows it resembles.
- Hangs between front and back headrests to keep a dog off the front seats
- Center zipper so a person can sit on one side while the dog stays covered
- Seatbelt and LATCH openings close with hook and loop
- Front headrest straps remove so it can work as a plain seat cover
- Extended 63 inch width for full size trucks and large SUVs
A good fit for owners of cars, SUVs and trucks with a back bench seat who want a named brand hammock with a center zipper for sharing the seat and a lifetime guarantee on defects. The trade-offs are that it has no mesh viewing window like the original, it is spot clean or hand wash only, and earlier versions sold as the Wander Hammock were described as water resistant, so heavy spills may still get through.
