Anker PowerLine+ Micro USB Cable (3 ft)

A sturdy braided Micro USB cable for older devices, backed by thin and dated coverage.

We bought Amazon Basics Double Braided Nylon USB 2.0 A to Micro-B Charging Cable, 3 ft, Silver. It's no longer documented anywhere, so this page reviews the closest well-covered match. It is the best documented double braided 3 foot USB-A to Micro USB cable from a major brand, the same kind of cable at a similar low price.

The short version

Buy it if
  • Owners of older Android phones, Bluetooth speakers, game controllers or other Micro USB devices
  • Anyone who keeps fraying cheap charging cables
Skip it if
  • Your devices use USB-C or Lightning
  • Your charger has only USB-C ports, since this cable ends in USB-A
  • You need a cable longer than 3 feet

What owners like

  • Feels thick and well made compared with bundled cables
  • Holds up far longer than cheap cables, so fewer replacements

Common complaints

    What it does

A 3 foot USB-A to Micro USB charging and data cable with a double braided nylon jacket, an aramid fiber core and a felt carry pouch.

    • Double braided nylon outer jacket
    • Aramid fiber core and reinforced stress points, which Anker says help it last about 10 times longer than ordinary cables
    • Thicker wire gauge to cut resistance, per the retailer listing
    • Felt pouch for storage
    • Carries data as well as power

Worth it if you still have Micro USB gear, such as older Android phones, speakers, controllers or e-readers, and keep wearing out cheap cables. The braid and fiber core target durability, but the design is several years old and owner feedback is mostly from older reviews.

    Questions

Does the Anker PowerLine+ Micro USB cable transfer data?

Yes. It handles charging and data.

What is the difference between PowerLine and PowerLine+?

PowerLine+ adds a double braided nylon jacket, an aramid fiber core and a pouch. The plain PowerLine has reinforced connectors but no braid.

Will it fit a phone in a case?

The sources read do not say. Check the connector depth if your case has a deep port opening.

Is Micro USB the same as USB-C?

No. Micro USB is the older, smaller trapezoid shaped plug and will not fit a USB-C port.
