FosPower Toslink Optical Audio Cable, 15 ft
A sturdy optical cable for legacy surround, limited by Toslink rather than build.
The short version
- Connecting a TV, console or PC to a soundbar, receiver or DAC that has no HDMI eARC
- Setups with ground hum over electrical audio connections
- Your TV and soundbar both have HDMI eARC and you want Dolby Atmos
- Your soundbar's optical port sits in a tight recess
What owners like
- Sturdy braided build and solid metal ends
- Works well for consoles and PC audio setups
Common complaints
- Bulkier jacket than basic optical cables
- Plug can fit snugly or awkwardly in thin soundbars
Based on Headphones Pro Review's optical cable roundup, plus XDA and Wikipedia on what Toslink can carry; little owner discussion of this model was found.

What it does
A 15 foot nylon braided Toslink optical cable with metal, gold plated ends for sending digital audio from a TV or player to a soundbar or receiver.
- Light based link that is immune to ground loops and RF noise
- Braided jacket to protect the fiber from sharp bends
- Metal plug housings instead of bare plastic
- Also sold in 3, 6 and 10 ft lengths and 2 packs
A solid, well protected optical cable for connecting a TV, console or PC to a soundbar, receiver or DAC, especially where ground hum is a problem. The cable is not the limit; Toslink itself is, so it carries stereo PCM and compressed 5.1 but not Dolby Atmos, TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio, and the thick plug can be a snug fit on slim soundbars.

Questions
Does an optical cable support Dolby Atmos?
No. XDA notes Toslink cannot carry Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus or TrueHD, so use HDMI eARC for Atmos.
Does a gold plated optical cable sound better?
Optical carries light, not current; the maker sells the plating as corrosion protection for the ends.
Is 15 feet too long for optical audio?
No. Wikipedia puts typical plastic fiber Toslink runs at 5 to 10 m, and 15 ft is about 4.6 m.
Can optical carry 5.1 surround?
Yes, as compressed Dolby Digital or DTS. It carries uncompressed PCM only in stereo.
